What does a ping test measure?

Ping sends ICMP Echo Request messages and measures whether Echo Replies return. The result shows reachability from PacketPint, round-trip time and packet loss for those probes.

Does a failed ping mean that a website is down?

No. A host or firewall can block or rate-limit ICMP while the website itself remains available. Ping tests network replies, not whether a particular web application is working.

Whose connection does this ping test use?

The probes originate from the PacketPint server. Latency and packet loss can differ from the results you would see from your own device and network.
